Sing for the Season
Again this year, the Twin City Harmonizers are inviting men in the community to join them in celebrating the season in song by joining them on stage to sing a few well known Christmas songs as part of their annual Christmas shows. We start rehearsals with guest singers on October 16, with the first hour devoted to a warm up and learning the mostly familiar Christmas music, both sacred and secular, that will be used. Guest singers learn the songs along with our regular chorus members after which they are free to leave or, if they are interested, remain for all or part of the regular chorus rehearsal that follows. In either case, there is no obligation.
Sheet music will be provided but the ability to read music, while helpful, is not a requirement. We use a variety of teaching methods. If you can sing, “Happy Birthday” you should have no trouble. At the show itself, the guest singers will be invited to come up from their seats to the risers on stage to perform without the music. Thus, a little homework may be necessary.
We have ample documented evidence that singing truly is good for you, and for sure we do have fun. We do hope you will want to join us for the rehearsals and show.
Rehearsals have started on Tuesday evenings at the Schwaben Club, 1668 King Street East, Kitchener – parking off Weber street. It is not too late to join us. There are 2 performances - Saturday, December 1 at 2:00 pm at Calvary United Church, 48 Hawkesville Road, St. Jacobs; and Sunday, December 2 at 2:30 pm at St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 810 King Street East, Cambridge. Guests may choose to sing in either or both shows. Again, there is no further obligation – actual or implied.
